Princess Chelsea: The Cigarette Duet
Hot Chip: Night & Day
Yes, I’m obsessed with Hot Chip. But this video is awesome. According to director Peter Serafinowicz:
“Many animals were harmed during the making of this video. Regrettably, none of them made the final edit.”Dang. But it does have Reggie Watts, utter genius, in it too. Oh, and Terence Stamp. I’m sold.
Note: fan of Terence for his part in Priscilla, Queen of the Desert, not Superman.
Last Dinosaurs: Andy
Finally a video to accompany this jewel of a song. Not the most exciting or out there video but its something at least. And the guys are pretty cute…
Flight Facilities: With You feat. Grovesnor
Yeah Grovesnor, Hot Chip’s drummer, yeah! This is another aussie gem with a super chilled vibe. Looking forward to playing in the UK summertime - it’ll be the perfect soundtrack for arvo beers in the sun…
Boy & Bear: Big Man
I absolutely adore Boy & Bear. Milk and Sticks is definintely in my current top 10 of songs. So I’m like to be a fan of anything they put out. However, I’m used to that more upbeat lets-dance-around-with-a-glass-of-wine-and-a-cigarette kinda vibe (just me?) and this is much more mellow. Quite Mumford and Fleet Foxes really. It was on their Moonfire album but it’s they’ve just released a tasty animation video to go alongside it. I reckon it’ll grow on me.
Blender Gallery: Paddington
Great little photography gallery just off Oxford Street in Paddington, concentrating on the image in music. Housing some great lomo cameras in the bottom too…
Strange Talk:We Can Pretend
Funky & fresh; these chaps from Melbourne have been my soundtrack for the bus home. Perfect when the sun’s gone down at 5.30pm!
SET SAIL - Charleston
As some of you know (Rachel Allison ahem) I am unashamedly obsessed with these guys. Not only because Brandon, the lead singer, is utterly hawt with his blonde beautiful dreads, or the fact I want their drummer’s glasses, or even just that they have a violin (!), but because they’re lively, funky, and all over the ‘good vibes’.
They’re pretty much hectic Sydney busking sluts, and the open air suits them: I’ve lost count of the times I’ve seen them playing at Pitt Street Mall, and they were down at Circular Quay last night trying to lap up some coins from the Vivid Sydney goers.
Enjoy this new little nugget from these babes!
